Green-Queen Power Ceasar Salad {vegan}

011025

Ceasar-effin-Salads.

Known for their luxurious creaminess and beautiful tang. Loved for their gluttony and use of bacon.

An American staple.

Although they may sit pretty next to your bacon cheeseburgers, most ceasar salads don’t have much to boast about nutrition-wise.

Then trusty resourceful vegans came along and created a trillion varieties of plant-based ceasar dressings that not only replicate the bright flavour of the traditional salad, but are nutritionally bountiful! (more…)

Melon Creamsicle Green Smoothie

Drive-Thru chocolate frosty’s with a long plastic spoon.

Orange creamsicle by the pool on a hot summers day.

–These are the daydreams that come to mind as I enjoy my frosty green smoothie on this lovely morning. Here I sit decked out in flannel from head to toe, wool slippers and a fleece house coat to boot. It may be -15 out yonder, but that doesn’t matter inside my delicious creamsicle smoothie bowl.

Creamy, with the classic flavours of vanilla and citrus, this just might be the perfect twist on your go-to breakfast smoothie. (more…)

Raw-ckin’ Taco Salad with Smoky Tahini Dressing

t 2t 6t 1

Spicy and smoky walnut ‘taco meat’ compliments a crunchy salad drizzled in a creamy tahini dressing.

Wakeup your winter lunch routine! Enough of those soups already…

Up until a couple weeks ago, if you asked me what ‘walnut meat’ was I would have assumed walnut crusted beef. But no. It is a thing. It is a marvellous thing that raw foodies like to do to enjoy gorgeous Mexican tacos sans creepy ground beef. (more…)

Dijon-dressed Kale Salad with Roasted Sweet Potato & Apple

010001A little salty with your sweet, a little crispy with your crunch. A little adventure in every bite. That’s the way this salad goes

I was struggling with the idea of posting today; let alone eating anything besides oatmeal and peanut butter. You see, I have a very sick puppy on my hands and its heart breaking to see an innocent animal in even the slightest pain. (more…)

Raw Peanut butter Cookie Dough Bites

022013Naturally sweet and chewy, dabbled with chunks of choc chips and kissed with peanut butter… These taste just like the real deal.

I’m a second stomach kinda gal. I may have polished off 3 bowls of chilli for dinner but that does stop the pangs of ‘I WANT CHOCOLATE’ coming from my brain.

Key-word; Brain. The brain tricks us eating into sugar when we are sad, lonely and bored all the time. Admittedly I usually decide its easier to go with the flow and indulge instead of letting it taunt me all night. But post Christmas sugar blitz I have been trying to break the cycle with some faux-sweet treats:

  • I have found the perfect chocolate-mint tea that sometimes satisfies (when paired with 3 squares 90% dark chocolate)
  • Berry smoothies work
  • Bananas dipped in peanut butter (for the peanut butta lova’s)
  • Banana ‘icecream’ (but I may or may not have broke my food processor blending dates)

And then there is these…. cookie dough balls….um yeah. Packed to the brim with energizing and satisfying nuts, sweetened with dates, and flavoured with peanut butter. h e l l y e a h (more…)

Irresistably Chewy Protein Cookies {with Everything But The Kitchen Sink}

011023Oats, Quinoa, Peanut butter, Banana, Sunflower Seeds, Dates, Cranberries, Protein Powder, Chocolate Chips and sweetened with maple syrup.

I have an entertaining/dangerous habit of haphazardly throwing everything iv ever enjoyed into a bowl when baking sans recipe. Many a time it results in a creation where the batter tastes amazing but the finished product somewhat…confusing. Regardless, there is something very meditative about baking your own dream creation– especially when it turns out like these guys! I have been craving cookies like nobody’s business lately, but I wanted a variety that rather than making you eat 9 in a row, satisfied your tummy growls for more than a second.

Enter these gluten free, high fiber, protein PACKED monster cookies. They are addictively tasty in the way you love the average peanut butter choco chip. But these will make you feel amazing and keep you high energy between meals. (more…)
